About Dr. Nelson
Dr. Nelson is the Chief Executive Officer at Northwest Medical Specialties, a seven-clinic oncology private practice headquartered in Tacoma, Washington. As CEO, Dr. Nelson is responsible for leadership of all company organizational objectives including strategy, hospital affiliation models, finances, clinical research, business operations and the development of all novel alternative payment models.
Dr. Nelson was instrumental in developing a large group of like-minded independent community oncology groups, the Quality Cancer Care Alliance (QCCA) of which he currently serves as the Chief Business Development Officer (CBDO). As CBDO, he is responsible for the development of all key strategic business negotiations and partnerships. Key projects include the development of alternative payment strategies, business integration and clinical database initiatives focused on enhancing real-world data driven outcomes in cancer patients.
Dr. Nelson recently assisted in the creation of a large community based, data-enhanced clinical trials network, Exigent Research. Exigent members include over 600 oncologists throughout the United States. He serves as the Interim Director of Research for Exigent and is responsible for the development of strategic network partnerships and contracting.
Dr. Nelson is an active Board Member of the Community Oncology Alliance (COA), Community Oncology Pharmacy Alliance (COPA) and an advisor to several start-up ventures in the Value-Based Care and Health Care provider space. He has assisted and advised on the development of numerous private practice affiliation models, including hospital-physician alignment strategies and private equity ventures. Dr. Nelson received his Doctor of Pharmacy from the University of Washington.
